YMCA Blue Ridge Assembly offers students a one-of-a-kind experience in summer work, summer study, summer fellowship and summer fun.

Welcome to YMCA Blue Ridge Assembly! Thank you for your interest in joining our seasonal staff. We are proud of our YMCA heritage and feel that we offer a unique work experience at our facilities located in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina. We have a reputation for outstanding customer service and staff friendliness. About Us
YMCA Blue Ridge Assembly is a conference center catering to the needs of nonprofit organizations and serving YMCAs, adults, family groups and college and high school students. Each summer, approximately 80 college-age men and women live and work at Blue Ridge as members of the conference center staff.

The purpose of the Assembly is to provide a safe, nurturing facility that allows conferees an opportunity to learn and grow. Our purpose in employing collegiate staff is to serve the conference guests and to provide the opportunity for the personal development of each staff member through an integrated program of work, study, recreation and worship in a Christian atmosphere.

History of Blue Ridge Assembly

Location
YMCA Blue Ridge Assembly is located in western North Carolina, two miles off I-40, 15 miles east of Asheville. The Assembly occupies 1200 acres and has cottages and lodges available to accommodate up to 1000+ guests.

Application Process
A seasonal job application must be completed and returned. Print three copies of the reference form and give one or two individuals who have known you in a professional or supervisory capacity, and one family member. These should be mailed or faxed directly to the Operations Director by the person completing the form. Applications will be reviewed upon receiving three references. You will then be contacted to arrange a telephone interview. The selection process includes, but is not limited to, experience, special skills and reference reports. Following the telephone interview, you will be contacted via mail with a decision. Employment Dates
Please be sure of your dates. Those who are able to work the full period will be given preference in the selection process. However, we do hire a number of applicants who arrive late or leave early. Additionally, we encourage individuals who may be available for work prior to the summer season to let us know as there are many employment opportunities available before the summer season officially begins.

We have three distinct employment seasons at YMCA Blue Ridge Assembly:
 Spring season: January 1- end of May
 Summer season: end of May- mid August
 Fall season: mid August - December 31
Specific Summer season dates vary by year.

Policies and Expectations
The following list represents some of the policies of YMCA Blue Ridge Assembly but is not all-inclusive. Applicants who are offered a job will receive a copy of the Seasonal Staff Summer Handbook which will include more details on policies and procedures. Each employee is expected to abide by all policies and conduct him/her self in a manner consistent with the standards of YMCA Blue Ridge Assembly.

  • Employees are not permitted to consume nor have alcoholic beverages in their possession on YMCA property. All employees present during a policy violation involving drugs or alcohol will be considered in violation. Alcoholic beverage containers, full or empty, are not permitted on grounds. Any incident of public intoxication is grounds for immediate dismissal.
  • Use, possession or sale of any illegal or non-medically prescribed controlled drug is grounds for immediate termination of employment.
  • Quiet hours must be observed in staff dormitory from 11:00 PM through 7:00 AM seven days a week.
  • YMCA Blue Ridge Assembly is a tobacco-free facility.
  • Pets are not allowed in YMCA staff residence halls or on grounds.
  • All employees must be well-groomed according to YMCA Blue Ridge Assembly standards.
